A flipbook pad bound with red tape. The top page shows a red ball bouncing, with faint copies of where it was in the two frames before, and the bottom corner of the page curls up, ready to flip. 3 4 5 6 1 2 3

A flipbook in your pocket

One page of a flipbook: a paper plane climbing, with faint copies of where it was in the two frames before. 12

Draw frame by frame

Sketch on paper-textured pages with pens, pencils and markers. Onion skin shows your last two frames faintly underneath, so each drawing lines up with the one before.

Close the phone to play

On iPhone Duo, close the phone slowly and your pages flick past, one frame at a time. Open it flat again and you’re back where you were drawing.

Hinge controls arrive in a free update shortly after launch. Until then, dragging works everywhere, including on iPhone Duo.

On other iPhones, drag the page edge to riffle, or tap Play.

Something new to draw

A new animation prompt arrives every week, for when you want to draw but don’t know what. New paper and palette packs arrive every month.

Close the phone, or drag the edge

Riffle does everything on every iPhone. On the Duo, the hinge turns into the thumb that riffles the pages.

On iPhone Duo

Open flat, the left page shows your previous frame and the right page is your canvas. Tap + to turn the page. Close the phone to riffle through everything you’ve drawn, then open it to carry on.
