Privacy policy

What we collect

Nothing. Paper & Hinge doesn’t collect, store or share any personal information or usage data from Foldle or Riffle. The apps don’t send anything about you or your use of them to us or to anyone else.

• There are no accounts to create and nothing to sign in to.
• There are no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
• Neither app asks for your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
• Riffle asks for permission to use Photos only if you choose to save an export there, and then it can only add to your library, not see what’s in it.

On the App Store, both apps carry Apple’s “Data Not Collected” privacy label.

What stays on your device

Some information has to be saved for the apps to work. It’s stored only on your iPhone, and we never receive it.

• Foldle keeps your puzzle history, streaks, stats and settings.
• Riffle keeps your projects, drawings, exports and settings.

Like other app data, this is included in your iPhone’s backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you have them turned on. Apple handles those backups under its own privacy policy. Deleting an app deletes its data from your iPhone.

Purchases

Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, email address, payment details or Apple ID. To find out whether you have Pro, the app checks with Apple on your device.

Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy. Apple gives developers sales reports that don’t identify individual customers.

If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may also give us anonymous, combined statistics such as crash counts. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Third parties

Foldle and Riffle contain no third-party code: no SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or anything else. Everything in them was written for them, including the art and sound.

When you share a Foldle result or a Riffle export, it goes where you send it, and the app or service you share it with handles it under its own policy.

This website

paperandhinge.com uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and has no forms.

• The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
• The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google’s servers. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply to you.

Children

Foldle and Riffle don’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 or the minimum age in your country. Children can play Foldle and draw in Riffle without sharing anything with us.

Purchases go through Apple, where parents can use Ask to Buy and Screen Time to approve or limit them.

Your choices

Because we don’t hold any data about you, there’s nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. To remove everything an app has stored, delete the app from your iPhone. If you’ve emailed us, you can ask us to delete your emails.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
